Before You Reach Out

1. Clear Description

  • What were you trying to accomplish?
  • What actually happened?
  • What did you expect to happen?
  • When did the issue start occurring?

2. Request & Response Samples

✅ DO include:

  • Complete HTTP request (headers, body, endpoint)
  • Full HTTP response (status code, headers, body)
  • Request timestamp and correlation ID
  • Authentication method used

❌ DON'T include:

  • Real OAuth tokens or client secrets
  • Personally identifiable information or guest data
  • Password credentials

3. Logs & Error Messages

  • Application logs around the failure time
  • Error messages (full stack traces if available)
  • Console output or debug information
  • Webhook payload examples (if applicable)

4. Context & Environment

  • API endpoint and version being used
  • PMS system (Apaleo, Mews, Oracle)

Common Issues & Quick Fixes

Authentication Failures

  • Verify OAuth token hasn't expired (check exp claim)
  • Confirm correct scopes are assigned
  • Ensure client credentials are valid

Webhook Not Receiving Events

  • Check webhook URL is publicly accessible
  • Verify SSL certificate is valid
  • Confirm subscription is active and event types are correct

Rate Limiting (429 errors)

  • Implement exponential backoff
  • Review rate limit headers in responses
  • Consider request batching

Data Mismatch Issues

  • Verify PMS system supports the feature
  • Check for PMS-specific restrictions in docs
  • Confirm property configuration is correct
